The "Chemistry" Question: Kim asked this common but difficult question about
"chemistry" and a Life Partner List: I started dating a great man back in September. There wasn't a strong chemistry at first but he appeared
to have all the qualities of my life partner list. So I figured the chemistry part would take care of itself
as I got to know him. Well 4 months later, I am struggling to try and figure out why I am not yet physically
attracted to him. If anything I am less attracted than I was in the beginning. In fact, when we have sex, I
have fantasized I was making love to someone else to do it and even made excuses to avoid having sex with him
at all. How does this happen when he has all the qualities of my life partner list?

Kim's "Chemistry" Question Answered
Kim, the idea is to lead with your head in making the list. IF you follow all the steps, the last step is
about adding detail to each list item. The result of that step takes you away from the grocery type of list
and begins to paint a compelling vision of not just your guy, but also your life with him. THAT should begin
to be a fairly juicy document. More like a short story about your life with "him," it should generate some
"chemistry" all it's own. What you feel when reading it will be something similar to what you'll feel when
"he" shows up. I'm pretty sure you didn't get that far in the process (Kim hadn’t).
Simply put, "chemistry," in terms of a Life Partner List, has to do with the "rightness," of a match. It's got
some sexual energy for sure. But even more importantly, it is the feelings of excitement that come with watching someone
gradually demonstrate that they have more and more of what you have on your full Life Partner List. It’s a feeling
that should show up pretty early and then color the whole relationship.
If you find a guy who has a LOT of what's on your list, and you like him... BUT there is just no "heat,"
I'd suggest you first check things out with your support people. They can help you see if there is something
critical you're missing, on or in-between the lines of your list. They may also be able to see some things about the guy
that you can't see because of what he brings that you really like. If those steps don't help, I'd suggest you check in with a trusted
therapist to see about blocks to sexual energy you might be carrying and haven't explored.
If you've done the work, and "your list" presents himself, ALL the rest should be easy.
